Pillars of our work

Overview

AfricaNenda Foundation turns strategy into action. We work alongside public and private sector partners to design, implement, and strengthen inclusive instant payment systems that operate on a national and regional scale.

Our work focuses on practical results: enabling people to send and receive money instantly, supporting governments to deliver payments efficiently, strengthening financial sector interoperability, and building institutional capacity for long-term sustainability. From early diagnostics and policy design to system rollout, operational improvement, scaling, and skills development, we support countries at every stage of their instant payments journey.

Our goal is to help build inclusive payment systems that strengthen financial inclusion and foster resilient digital economies.

Supporting IIPS implementation and improvement

AfricaNenda works with public and private sector stakeholders to design and strengthen instant payment systems that are inclusive by design.
Vision and strategy development:

We support central banks, payment system operators, and project sponsors to develop a shared national vision for inclusive instant payments. This includes readiness assessments, use-case prioritization, and alignment among stakeholders.

Design And Governance:

We help define system architecture, governance models, and operational frameworks, and develop clear implementation of roadmaps.

Implementation and rollout support:

We provide technical guidance during execution to support effective deployment and coordination.

Operational Support:

After launch, we offer tools such as market research, business model reviews, scheme rule assessments, and customer journey mapping to help increase access and usage.

Enabling an inclusive ecosystem

Technology alone is not enough. Strong policies, informed stakeholders, and effective coordination are essential.
Policy and regulatory support:

We work with regulators and policymakers to develop enabling frameworks that promote interoperability, competition, and consumer protection.

Knowledge and market intelligence:

Through initiatives such as the State of Inclusive Instant Payment Systems in Africa (SIIPS) report, we generate insights to inform decision-making.

Stakeholder engagement and convening:

We facilitate technical exchanges, peer learning, regional collaboration, and learning platforms such as our Center of Excellence.

Strengthening institutional and human capacity

Sustainable payment systems depend on strong institutions and skilled professionals.
Training and skills development:

We support the design and delivery of training programs for policymakers, regulators, and ecosystem stakeholders, grounded in African market realities and global best practices.

Organizational capacity support:

We provide technical assistance, peer exchange, and resource development to help institutions build long-term resilience.
