SIIPS 2025 Launch

About SIIPS

From 12–14 November 2025, Ezulwini, Eswatini, became the hub of Africa’s digital payments community as leaders gathered to unveil the State of Inclusive Instant Payment Systems (SIIPS) in Africa Report 2025. Building on the momentum of the 2023 and 2024 editions, AfricaNenda Foundation, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the World Bank proudly presented this highly anticipated fourth edition.

AfricaNenda hosted the SIIPS 2025 report launch on 13 November 2025 in Eswatini, in partnership with the Central Bank of Eswatini. The event was held under the esteemed patronage of the Honourable Governor of the Central Bank of Eswatini and brought together more than 130 high-level delegates from across the continent for three days of policy dialogue, technical exchanges, and strategic networking to accelerate Inclusive Instant Payment Systems (IIPS) in Africa.

Background

The SIIPS 2025 Report provides a comprehensive overview of Africa’s progress in advancing Inclusive Instant Payment Systems (IIPS)—critical infrastructure for driving financial inclusion and economic growth. Through consumer research conducted in four countries and four new in-depth case studies, the report explores emerging trends, key challenges, and the transformative potential of IIPS to connect people and businesses across the continent.

The SIIPS 2025 Report is Africa’s leading benchmark for inclusive instant payment systems (IIPS). The report shows that 36 systems are now live across 31 African countries, with five launched over the past year. Collectively, they processed 64 billion transactions worth nearly USD 2 trillion in 2024, underscoring Africa’s rapid transition to digital finance.
